The ANZSRS guide to the Great Southern State As the host city of this year's ASM, Adelaide offers delegates and their partners an extensive range of opportunities to see, taste and experience South Australia's history, natural wonders and fine and produce.

During mid-autumn Adelaide weather is usually fine and mild and the city is graced with the first leaf falls from the many deciduous trees that line the streets. Outdoor living is at its best with many pubs, cafes and outdoor venues encouraging a relaxed lifestyle.

The Migration Museum, 82 Kintore Avenue Adelaide. - Permanent and changing exhibitions that reflect our national identity and origins.

The Bradman Collection, The Institute, adjacent to the State Library, North Terrace, Adelaide. - A priceless collection of cricket memorabilia.

The International Rose Garden, Hackney Road Adelaide. - A 1.5Ha site of over 5000 established roses.

The Botanic Gardens, North Terrace Adelaide, - Has many unique attractions including the fully Bicentennial Conservatory, the largest single span conservatory in the southern hemisphere.

The National Wine Centre, Hackney Road Adelaide, headquarters of the Australian wine industry.

The Adelaide Central markets, Grote Street Adelaide - A showcase of South Australia's fine produce.

Hire a gondola, on Torrens Lake adjacent the Convention centre.

The Adelaide Motor Show, Royal Adelaide Showgrounds, Goodwood Road Wayville. - There is something for everyone at South Australia's premiere Motor Exhibition featuring, new vehicle releases, concept cars motorbikes, four wheel drive vehicles and accessories.

Food and Wine:

Adelaide has many well established, dinning precincts that offer a variety of eating experiences. From bars and pubs to cafes and restaurants, you will find something enjoyable and affordable to suit your taste. Recommendations include,

Gouger Street, Adelaide.
Gaucho's Argentinean Restaurant specialises in Char-grilled Fish, Meat, Seafood and game.
Star of Siam, an award winning Thai Restaurant.
Gouger Fish Café, another award winning restaurant specialising in Seafood.

The House of Chow, an innovative gourmet Chinese restaurant
Citrus, features locally available fresh, seasonal produce that are featured on a changing menu.

The Marina at Holdfast Shores and Henley Square at Henley Beach also offer a variety of establishments to dine and relax both are located on the Metropolitan coast.

State wide South Australia boasts many world renown Wine making districts including, the Adelaide Hills, Barossa and Eden Valley, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley and the Limestone coast. Penfolds, Orlando (Jacobs Creek), Southcorp and BRL Hardy are some of the wine makers that can be visited for cellar tastings and purchases.

Day trips and Extended Site seeing;

For extended stays in South Australia the state has many sites well worth visiting.

Kangaroo Island is a unique unspoilt land with more than 30% of the Island being declared as National or conservation Parks. The island is home to many species of Australian Flora, Fauna and sea life that thrive in this unique ecosystem.

The Flinders Ranges are referred to as the Gateway to the outback with breathtaking landscapes and an array of wildlife.

The Coorong in the states southeast is a 145km network of lagoons and wetlands fronting the Southern Ocean. It is an area sacred to Indigenous Australians and is one of the most important waterbird habitats in Australia.

The Naracoorte Caves in the states southeast contain one of the world's richest fossil deposits and are a spectacular natural phenomenon.
